About the Group
The Corporate Centre Group provides a wide range of corporate services to enable people at HM Treasury and many of the other organisations who form part of the Treasury Group to operate effectively and efficiently. We are a diverse group, both in terms of our professions and in our ways of working.
About the Team
The Treasury Business Solutions (TBS) team are trusted business partners responsible for Technology, Security and Knowledge & Information Management. We have staff based in each of our London, Norwich and Darlington offices.
We’re looking for someone with a good understanding of a broad range of technologies and great problem solving and communication skills. Join our technology team, working directly to the Chief Technology Officer, and help us make a real change to the way the Treasury operates; driving technological innovation to deliver change and benefit to our users. You will be a key player in shaping the way the Treasury works, engaging with high profile activities and making a real difference to the way this great department operates. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to influence practical technology implementation at the heart of Government in a time of momentous change. Our principal technical architect will provide technical leadership to all of our users. They:
- Have an excellent understanding of a broad range of technologies;
- Can converse easily with, and translate between, non-technical stakeholders and technical practitioners;
- Can switch between a variety of problems and responsibilities;
- Lead on the delivery and establishment of new solutions into service delivery.
Key accountabilities include:
- Leading on technical change and delivering solutions that meet user needs. Collaborating with customers, stakeholders and suppliers to ensure that solutions are supportable and delivered into service in line with good industry practice.
- Providing analysis, prototyping and/or solutions to support the development of business cases. Input into business case developing by clarifying the cost/benefit case for technology spending. Scoping appropriate proof-of-concept projects to confirm the feasibility of change to existing and new applications and technologies.
- Defining and communicating policies and guidance for users acquiring and operating new technologies.
- Producing a strategy for technology that meets business needs. Developing and communicating the technology roadmap to the Senior Management Team, users and stakeholders. Assess and communicate risks associated with investments and purchases.
- Working with suppliers to creatively provide solutions to business problems. Ensure technical governance is robust and followed, providing assurance for new projects and existing services.
- Remaining up-to-date and knowledgeable about industry trends and emerging technologies. Visualise economies of scale by working and sharing with other government departments. Support the Chief Technology Officer with the development of strategies, roadmaps and solutions.

Required Qualifications:
Recognised certification in technology or architecture is essential. Proven experience in working in a large enterprise environment. Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure technologies.

Understands technical governance and can participate in or deliver the assurance of a service. 5. Understanding of, and experience using, a wide range of technologies in an Enterprise environment, and the ability to apply this knowledge when implementing targeted solutions to deliver business benefit. |
